Repost from @mercyukorg We all have an internal voice—self-talk that combines conscious thought with root beliefs systems and unconscious judgement to create our internal monologue. It can be difficult to know why we talk to ourselves the way we do and for some of us, sorting through truths from lies or a constructive voice from a critical voice, can be a key part of learning to live free and stay free.
Take a moment to consider this statement. Which one is closest to your internal voice? Or are you somewhere inbetween?
When I make a mistake, my self talk is…
CRITICAL: I blame myself, absorb all fault and resign myself to failure. I might call myself names like ‘stupid’ or ‘loser.’
CONSTRUCTIVE: I explore what could have gone differently without judging or blaming myself and I can admit fault where it is mine, without shame.
Now ask yourself a couple questions: 1. What do you think the impact is of talking to yourself like this? 2. How do you think this internal voice has been formed?

Come and hear the personal story of one man’s journey from refugee camp to reconciliation.
Our Country Director for Rwanda, Emmanuel Murangira, will be sharing his moving account of growing up in a country divided by conflict, and his reflections on the Rwandan genocide of 1994. He’ll also provide an inspiring insight into life in his country in the 30 years since – including how, in his role with Tearfund, he has been leading our work to equip the church to be at the heart of efforts to rebuild and restore hope.
There will be an opportunity to worship, and to pray with us for peace and reconciliation in conflict situations around the world today. 🙏
